Norway Daze

So after a couple more days in Sjoa, enjoying the company and doing a couple classic rivers, we decided to head to Hemsedal to visit our friend Jim and do some paddling in his area.

The drive over to Hemsedal was incredible.

Paddling the Hemsila, just outside of Hemsedal, was definitely a highlight of the trip so far for Mark. We also did a couple hikes in the area checking out the beautiful landscape.

Sheep....where are you?

After Hemsedal we headed to the town Sogndal, right on the fjord, to paddle the Sogndalselva. It was a sweet little creek that provided continuous rapids and slides for our enjoyment.
From Sogndal we made our way to the kayaker's paradise of Voss. Since we got here we have paddled a world class river or creek everyday and there are still many left to run. Here we have good company and amazing rivers, what more could we ask for (besides a little bit warmer temperatures)?

Norway's waterways

We hooked up with Jordie and Jen on August 2nd and we did a driving mission to Norway. Once we got to Norway we had to get in as many rivers as possible before Jen and Jordie took off.

We started out in Sjoa and then did a big circle tour for a couple weeks. So far in Norway we have had some high rivers (sometimes too much water), a lot of rain, a couple days of sunshine, checked out a few trolls, some amazing rivers and waterfalls, driven some very scenic roads (some crazy steep as well) and visited the fjords.

mmm... these boats sure taste good.

Trolls are common place in Norway.

... so is the fog.

Now we are back at Sjoa and Jordie and Jen are taking off back to Canada tonight. Mark and I are planning to spend some more time exploring Norway before continuing on our journey.

Sight seeing in the cities

Mark and I spent a day in Berlin checking out the sights:

We also spent a morning in Copenhagen checking out the city on our drive up to Norway:
